Voltron has gone through a number of animated and computer generated variations since its original appearance on television back in the mid 1980’s. The first script was completed back in 2006, written by screenwriter Enzo Marra and planned to be produced by Mark Gordan (Grey’s Anatomy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and described as “”a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City… [in which] five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth’s invaders.” Despite a battle over the rights for the film between World Events Production Company, Toei Company Ltd. and more recently a bidding war between Relativity Media and World Events some concept art was released leaked.
